Michael P. “Mick” Zatarain

Mick Zatarain has been a partner since 1977, and as senior partner oversees all aspects of the firm. His deep knowledge and years of experience with Louisiana’s unique tax system has placed him at the forefront of tax representation. He has personally prepared and overseen tax issues within every state and local level. Mick has acted as an expert witness on Louisiana tax matters in both federal and state courts.

Mick began as a Fellow at the Loyola Institute for Politics before joining the firm. In addition to his work with Zatarain Consulting Partners, LLC, he is the author of the critically-acclaimed book “David Duke: Evolution of a Klansman” and the recipient of the 1994 William Faulkner Best Fiction Award for “Where’s Murray Ross?”. He is also the author of eleven plays for public radio and was host of the Emmy Award-winning television program “Real New Orleans”. Mick has also been a long-time member of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Committee.

Michael Zatarain, Jr.

Representing the fourth generation of Zatarains to pursue a career in tax management, Michael joined the firm in 2006 and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in the office. His hands-on experience preparing tax filings and industrial inducements, as well as his mastery of “the back roads to every courthouse in Louisiana”, have made him an invaluable asset to Zatarain Consulting Partners, LLC.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and was a standout defensive back for the Ragin’ Cajun football team.
